“If the dream is held close to the heart, and imagination is applied to what there is close at hand - Everything is still possible.”

Keenoo Kinder Chronicles
Happy Valentine's and Family Day weekend to you all! I hope everyone gets the chance to go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather we are being treated to this year! Things are going very well in Kindergarten - we are getting very good at our full names and some of us are getting ready to add our street address as a challenge. Thank you to all the families who have started practicing at home - we can see the difference in not only your child's ability but their confidence! I am so proud of all their efforts. My Kinder-kids are AWESOME!
We are continuing with our letters and sounds - we have added k, u, and r to the list. Kindergarten is not a "one and done" type atmosphere - we review constantly as we add to our repertoire. You can help your child by reviewing letters in your home life environments - at the store, as you walk/drive to and from school, at the dinner table, at sports practices, etc. Letters, words, and numbers are everywhere so learning can happen anywhere!
Thank you to all the parents who provided snacks for our Valentine's Day parties - the children had fun sharing their cards and treats and making crafts. It was a nice way to end our week. We will be continuing our focus on families, friends, and kindness for the rest of the month (in addition to finishing polar bears).
On behalf of all the big people in Room 101 (Mrs. Kirkhammer, Mrs. Herman, Miss Monica, Ms. Gold, Mr. Erickson, and me), thank you for all the wonderful Valentine cards and treats. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity! :)
Things to look forward to:
Stars of the Week for Feb 16 - 19: Rowan in the Morning Class and Mackenzie in the Afternoon Class
Feb 15 - Family Day - NO SCHOOL
Feb 16 and 17 - Book Fair in the Library 4:30 - 8:30pm
Feb 23 - Kindergarten Family Night in the Gym 6 - 7:30pm Please RSVP if you haven't already done so. Please bring a family photo and a potluck snack to share with the group
Feb 26 - Jump Rope for Heart assembly in the Gym - 1:30pm

Have a safe holiday weekend. See you on Tuesday.

I hope you have all had a wonderful five days with your little person - I have truly missed being with them and can't wait to get back into the swing of school! We will be finishing up our Penguins and Polar Bears and moving into our Family and Friends theme. This seems appropriate with Valentine's Day creeping up on us. Our class parties will be held on Friday, Feb 12th. If you have older children in the school they might be buzzing with news about the Silver Carnival - Kindergarten does not participate as I cannot offer the opportunity to both of my classes.
Upcoming dates to be aware of:
Friday, February 5 - Online booking for Celebrations of Learning opens: https://keenooshayo.schoolappointments.com
Monday, February 8 - February Scholastic Book Orders are DUE
Monday, February 15 - No school - Family Day
Tuesday, February 16 and Wednesday, February 17 - Book Fair in the school Library
Tuesday, February 23 - Hands-On Kindergarten Family Night in the Gym 6 - 7:30pm - come dressed to potentially get messy, bring a photo and snack to share with the group! Please RSVP so we will have adequate supplies: [email protected]
Friday, February 26 - Jump Rope for Heart Assembly in the school gym - 1:30pm
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please feel free to contact me!
Take care,
Karen
