Happy Halloween, Everyone! It was a wild end to our week with our Halloween Parties on Friday! All the children looked so awesome in their costumes! Pictures will go up in the Photo Gallery soon.
We would like to send out a big giant thank you to all the parents who sent in food and another to all the parents who came to class and helped make our day a big success (even despite the fire alarm in the afternoon!!).
I would also like to thank all the children for their compassion and concern over my sprained ankle - I was in such a hurry to get to school that I fell down my stairs and messed up my ankle leading to much more sitting than I am used to. Your children were all wonderful in making me feel better!! I am sorry I did not make it to the Family Dance - (by the end of the day my ankle was roughly the size of a grapefruit) - I hope all of you that attended had a fabulous time.
Thank you to Becky and Michelle for coordinating our class volunteers. Ladies, I appreciate your efforts to find us daily volunteers. And thank you to all the Moms, Dads, and grandparents who have volunteered their time in our room - not all the jobs are glamorous but we enjoy and appreciate having you with us!

Dear Kinder-Families,
It has been another fantastic week in Kindergarten! We are working on the letter Aa and the sounds it makes - Eh!! Like Fonzie from Happy Days!, Aaaah - like having the doctor check your throat, and Aaaaww - like we didn't get our favourite story at carpet time. Please keep working with your children on the letters we have completed so far and remember that learning can happen everywhere - in your house, in the yard, in the car - Everywhere!
REWIND AND REVIEW
Yikes! There are monsters in our room! A big round of applause goes to our Grade 5 and Grade 6 Buddies for helping us transform ordinary milk jugs into Monster Master-pieces! Who knew a few craft supplies and children's imaginations could create something so awesome?! I was not disappointed! :)
In fact, I am very impressed with all the kids, big and small!
We have also been "building" several Halloween-themed crafts - Spookley Pumpkins - to go with our story, The Legend of Spookily, The Square Pumpkin, Q-Tip Skeletons, 3-D Paper Pumpkins, and Brown Bat Puppets. Sometimes we work on "being real" which means we keep the colours as we would find them in the real world and sometimes we just go crazy with our imaginations! We are also working on asking questions and making statements. If it is a question then we are looking for information that we don't know yet. If it is a statement then someone is telling us something! This is a tough concept for little people but we are getting the hang of it!
There were two Assemblies this week - The Grade 5s acted out "Where the Wild Things Are" on Thursday afternoon and then on Friday afternoon we were treated to a skunk, a lizard, a thestral and a red-tailed hawk in the Gym when the Earth Rangers coming to visit. We learned about animals in danger and how we can help. If you would like to look into becoming an Earth Ranger (it's free) please visit: www.earthrangers.com

Dear Kinder-Families,
What an amazing week - Thank you for sharing such wonderful little people with me!
For a short week we accomplished quite a few things - the letter dD, Parent-Teacher Learning Conferences, our first field trip to Prairie Gardens, and fall-themed crafts. It is a nice feeling when I reflect on our week and notice how much the children have grown in our short time together. I appreciate all the support you are providing at home and welcome your feedback, questions, and concerns.
REWIND AND REVIEW
The Kinder-kids are doing a fabulous job learning their letters - we are finishing up the letter dD and the "duh" sound. Please continue to look for letters and make their sounds in all your daily activities - breakfast, lunch, supper, bath time, shopping, driving - the opportunities to EYE SPY letters in our environment are endless! We also talked about fall colours and made bingo-dabber leaves and discussed and built the pumpkin life-cycle. On top of all that we had a wonderful day at Prairie Gardens - the children were amazing and the weather co-operated to make it one of the best field trips I have EVER had the pleasure of going on. Thank you Kinder-kids - I am so proud of all of you!
Thank you to all the families who have returned their alphabet letter(s) homework - they look fantastic in the classroom and the children are so proud of their work! If you still need more time or your letters have disappeared please let me know - I have left the spaces on the wall for them!
Also, thank you to everyone who has sent in a 4L milk jug - prepare to be amazed at what we are going to turn them into with our buddies' help next week!!!
Things to Remember and Watch For
Enjoy the fall weekend!
Take care,

Happy Thanksgiving Kinder-Families! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and are able to spend time with people you love. I am in Lethbridge with my family and it is windy but beautiful. Please remember that there is no school on Monday or Tuesday.
REWIND AND REVIEW
It was a great week in Kindergarten - we worked on the letter dD, learned all about who to call if there is a fire/emergency, how to STOP, DROP, and ROLL if our clothes are on fire, and to crawl low under smoke to stay safe. We ended our week with a run around the back field with our turkey hats on, our Grade 5 and 6 buddies in tow, and a turkey cookie treat at the end!
Things to Remember and Things to Watch For
*AFTERNOON STUDENTS MUST BE DROPPED OFF AT KEENOO IN THE MORNING - THEY WILL HAVE THEIR NORMAL DISMISSAL ROUTINE.
Enjoy your long weekends, everyone! I will see you on Wednesday.
Take care,

Dear Kinder-Parents and Kinder-kids,
What a week it has been! We have enjoyed the outdoors and the beautiful fall weather as much as we could. We have also been working really hard on our alphabet - particularly the letter Cc! We used our Eye-Spy eyes and found the letter c or C in books, around the school, and in our classroom. We also really enjoyed dancing to the C Song which can be found on You Tube - Have Fun Teaching - Letter C Song. Watch out!! - it will get stuck in your head and you may find yourself humming it!
REWIND AND REVIEW
We made it to Library and more of us were able to sign out books this week - Yay! Keep sending the books back so we can get new ones each week. We have talked with the children that it is (mostly) their responsibility to keep track of their library books at home as Mom or Dad did not sign them out! It's funny how many parents are getting blamed for not packing those books! :)
On Wednesday we ran the Terry Fox Run with our Grade 5 and 6 Buddies! Thank you Buddies for taking good care of us, remembering that our legs are shorter, and not going too fast! Mrs. Herman and Mrs. Henneberry did a wonderful job with the Assembly and the Afternoon Kinders were fabulous sitting in the gym while everyone talked. Don't worry Morning Kinders - you will get your turn at an Assembly and I'm sure you will be fabulous too! If you have the chance to pop into the school, all of our "I am running for" stickers are displayed in the front hallway - it is quite spectacular!
The Letter C has been our focus all week and I'm pretty sure we know it! We will be moving on to a new letter next week! Keep your Detective Eyes open around your house, when you're out driving, and if you are in a store for all the letter Cs you can find!!
We are wrapping up our Apple theme and moving onto Fall, Fire Safety, and Thanksgiving.
Things to Remember and Things to Watch For
As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at any time. My email is [email protected] or you can call the school or we can set up a meeting time at your convenience.
Enjoy the weekend,
Karen
